Idyllic winter loop through the Greiter Graben in Inneralpbach: Follow the gentle creek to the Salcheralm, past alpine huts and the Greit Chapel – perfect for families and leisure hikers.
The Greiter Graben circular trail begins in picturesque Inneralpbach, one of the most beautiful side valleys in the region. From the Inneralpbach car park, the route first leads towards the Mountain Farming Museum, which offers a vivid glimpse into the rural heritage of the Alpbach Valley.
Behind the museum, the gentle ascent along the Greiter Stream begins – a natural, peaceful section accompanied by the steady sound of flowing water. The path winds through the gorge, passing traditional wooden fences, alpine meadows and small bridges – an ideal setting to soak up the tranquility of the mountain landscape.
After a leisurely walk, you reach the Salcheralm, idyllically situated on the slope and a wonderful spot for a break. From here, wide views open up over the surrounding peaks and the gentle grassy hillsides of the Greiter area.
From the Salcheralm, the loop descends back into the valley. On the way, you pass the small Greit Chapel, a charming rest point with beautiful views into the valley. The trail then continues down to Inneralpbach, where the loop closes.
The 7.7 km route can be easily shortened at several points, making it perfect for families and relaxed walkers.
