Learn About Local Agriculture & Popular Piety.
This hike starts at Antonius Chapel in the center of St. Johann in Tirol. Just a few steps away is a magnificent deanery parish church that’s also well worth a visit. Follow Wieshoferstraße, cross the bridge, and head toward Oberhofen. The hamlet of Oberhofen is home to some beautiful old farmhouses and a large old stone trough. The hike continues through meadows to the hamlet of Reitham with its grand old farmhouses and a small chapel dating from 1912. The trail continues past mountain farms, hay barns and through wide meadows. Old beehives and gardens with ancient fruit trees are evidence that old agrarian traditions are still cherished here. Along the way you will come across Blattl Chapel and Mühlbach Chapel further manifestations of popular piety. From the main road you can catch a bus back to St. Johann in Tirol.
