Description

Your walk begins at the information office in St. Johann in Tirol. Just around the corner, you will find the Wirtshaus Hotel Post on Speckbacherstraße, with its lavish murals – in days gone by, this was the town's stagecoach station. The main square with its baroque parish church is located in the middle of the pedestrian zone. Here you can stroll, enjoy the outdoor dining areas, or go shopping – especially on Fridays from around mid-March to November at the Weekly Market. In Wieshoferstraße, admire the rich ornamental Rococo paintings at Landhaus Schwarzinger. Promenade paths run along the Fieberbrunner Ache and Kitzbüheler Ache rivers, which are popular with walkers in both winter and summer.

At the point where the two rivers merge to form the Großache, there is a small park with shady trees that invite you to linger. Beautiful flowers and shrubs adorn the St. Josef chapel. Walk past the fountain and follow the promenade on the other side, accompanied by the gentle splashing of the river. At the Free Gym, you can try out outdoor fitness. Cross Kaiserstraße and follow the Ache further to the large children's playground. Take Schwimmbadweg to return to Speckbacherstraße with its inviting shops. On the right-hand side, you will see the “Bierturm,” almost a landmark of the town. Here, the fourth generation is already brewing their Huber beers.

If you are wondering about the names of the streets along the river promenades in Redford, Rovaniemi, Valeggio, and Fuldabrück, the market town of St. Johann in Tirol has maintained friendly relations with these four partner cities for many years.
