We are big fans of the winter circuit around the Pillersee. The frozen lake, usually surrounded by a beautiful winter wonderland due to its high altitude, radiates a sublime tranquillity. New, beautiful views open up from every side of the shore. A visit to the Adolari pilgrimage church completes the contemplative winter experience.
The winter hike around the Pillersee is an easy, scenically varied circular tour. It runs on mostly cleared or rolled winter paths on asphalt and gravel and is suitable for leisurely walks and families. Along the route, winter views of the Pillersee and the surrounding landscape open up. A turn-off leads to the Adolari pilgrimage church, which offers a short extension to the tour. From there, it is also possible to return on the Regiobus. Non-slip footwear and warm clothing are recommended, as the paths can be in typical winter conditions.
From the starting point behind the SPAR market (= cross-country skiing & winter hiking start) to the Grieselbach stream. There turn left along the stream in the direction of Pillersee. At the lake shore, cross the two bridges, then keep left and hike along the Pillersee. At the outlet of the lake, turn left and cross the small bridge. Walk along the main road back to the village centre. (Walking time for the loop 1h 15 min).
Alternative: At the end of the lake, continue straight ahead along the winter hiking trail in the direction of Adolari. At the end of the trail, cross the main road to the other side to the little pilgrimage church St. Adolari. (Walking time from the lake outlet to Adolari 30 min).
Return either via the same route or by Regiobus. Free of charge with guest card. Bus stop St. Ulrich a.P. Adolari.
