Five Farmyards for a Winter in the Snow

A cosy, warm farmhouse, while the snow falls softly outside. Where summers are filled with work, farmers take advantage of the quieter winter months to welcome guests. Here are five places in Tirol showing that cows and comfort go wonderfully together.

Sledding right up to the front door. At the Gleinserhof in the Stubai Valley, a 2,630-metre-long natural toboggan run starts right behind the house. The excellent half-board with ingredients from its own farm is an added attraction. Starting point for a ski tour or snowshoe hike to the ‘Eulenwiesen’ through sparse larch forest.

Plenty of space for farm and highland cattle. The Feriengut Unterhochstätt in Kaiserwinkl has a spa area, a sledding hill and a pond for ice skating and curling. If you have time, you should also try out the 140-kilometre-long cross-country ski trail network and the Hochkössen ski resort.
