Description

The Stampfle stands quietly at the entrance to the village of Jerzens, right on the Mühlbach stream, which has kept the waterwheel turning for centuries. Following an extensive renovation, visitors can now rediscover the history of the village and this mill.
In the summer, bread baking and flour milling take place once a week, always on Wednesdays. Another unique feature of the Stampfle is the milk pipeline, which carries fresh raw milk from the Tanzalm over 3.5 kilometers and 900 meters in elevation directly down into the valley to the Stampfle. Thanks to a specially developed design that specifically reduces the flow rate, Jerzens is home to one of the few functioning milk pipelines of this kind in the Alps.
Both the traditional farmhouse bread and the raw milk can be purchased on-site. Guided tours of the Stampfle also offer insight into its rich history and how it has shaped life in the upper Pitztal Valley over the centuries.

Description for wheelchair users:
Exiting the village, just below the fire station there are a few car parking spaces. But please note that they are on a slope so access to the car is at an incline. Opposite the fire station is the old mill (“Alte Mühle”). A short steep tarmac road leading up to the mill can be managed with assistance. The area outside the mill is not surfaced, i.e. mostly grassed but flat and easy to navigate on.
