Traditional Handicrafts in Tirol

From wood carving to slipper making, Tirol is home to many traditional handicrafts which have been passed down through the generations and are continued today by a small group of dedicated craftsmen and craftswomen.

You can never really tell who is under a mask. At least almost never. We have uncovered one person who may not be underneath many masks, but is behind them: the mask carver.

The carver is also available in small format, usually as an interior decorator for the nativity scene. It takes him a whole day to mould a 10 cm small figure out of wood: The figure carver.

Anyone who has been making the same shoe for four generations and still made it onto the catwalk can't be a doggl. Quite the opposite! He prefers to produce them: the doggl maker.
