Drawing as a direct link between thought and hand: in just a few lines, George Grosz and Andy Warhol condense their view of society, types, and the zeitgeist.
Both artists used drawing as an instrument of observation and concentration – beyond painting, print, and icon.
Grosz dissects the big city with a sharp, socially critical eye, while Warhol captures stars, everyday images, and surfaces—laconic, precise, often ironic.
For the first time, their drawings are placed in relation to each other and show that drawing is not a secondary work, but an independent medium with surprising parallels between teacher and student.
