Description

Lots of fun and adventure are once again guaranteed this winter at the BIG FAMILY Park & Powder Days at the Stubai Glacier.
This action-packed program for the whole family makes your winter holiday together not only an unforgettable experience but also teaches all the essential techniques and safety measures. For two days, parents and their children aged 10 and older can explore the snowpark and off-piste terrain with trained coaches and guides. On February 18, it’s all about going higher and further on jumps and rails. On February 19, it’s time to discover the thrill of powder skiing.

When ski- and snowboard-enthusiastic parents go on a winter holiday with their children, they often face a challenge: while youngsters want to seize every opportunity to try out new tricks in the snowpark or carve their first lines in the powder, adults tend to place more importance on safety. This is exactly where the BIG FAMILY Park & Powder Days step in. The certified ÖSV Freeski Coaches as well as the state-certified mountain and ski guides know their terrain inside out and are experts at introducing families to both park and powder in a fun and approachable way.

Day 1 of the BIG FAMILY Park & Powder Days is dedicated to obstacles in the SPRING GARDEN at Gamsgarten. The 8-seater Rotadl chairlift quickly takes you to the snowpark, where numerous kickers, tubes, rail combos, and hips are waiting to be tried out. Since the first steps are often the hardest, the ÖSV Freeski Coaches provide plenty of helpful tips: how to get started, which rules to follow, and which safety measures are essential. Moms and dads should also challenge themselves and take their first jumps together with their kids.

Day 2 of the BIG FAMILY Park & Powder Days is all about the off-piste powder feeling. Since venturing into open terrain comes with risks, the state-certified mountain and ski guides first teach participants everything they need to know about safety. Equipment, planning, and precautions are covered at the Powder Department Freeride Checkpoints before heading beyond the slopes. A playful avalanche rescue training is also part of the program at the Ortovox transceiver training station.
