Thirteen-year-old Luisa is furious: Her youth group is going on a pilgrimage to Absam – only no one thought about the fact that she is in a wheelchair. The hiking trails are not accessible, so her helicopter parents drive her to the pilgrimage site. Not her thing at all. In the village, she meets the quiet Jona from Berlin. He visits the mysterious Virgin Mary image in the village church, which had a special meaning for his deceased mother. The two become friends and make a secret plan – in search of freedom and the “place within them.”

Meanwhile, a young Syrian falls in love with Jona’s youth leader during a spontaneous photo session, who has a strange image of a woman with a veil tattooed on her. And a grumpy but lovable old lady suddenly begins to dance when she returns to the place of her wedding. What connects them all with the image in the church? And what does it evoke in them?
