Stuff, clutter, collections, or relevant objects for museums? The exhibition poses the question of what is actually worthy of collection in museums, and why an old Maggidose, for example, tells the story of the hardships faced by factory workers. What does powdered milk have to do with the Marshall Plan? Objects in museums do not necessarily have to and should not hold monetary value, but rather tell stories. Objects that were once commonplace and are hardly known today. Objects whose uses we do not know and for which we invite visitors to assist us. Objects that are curious.
Entrance: free. Closed on holidays!
Stuff, junk, property, or museum-relevant objects?
The exhibition poses the question of what is actually worthy of collection in museums, and why an old maggid box, for example, tells about the hardships of factory workers. What does skimmed milk have to do with the Marshall Plan? Objects in museums do not always need to have a material value; instead, they should tell stories. Objects that were once common and are now barely known. Objects whose purposes we do not know and for which we ask visitors for help. Objects that are curious.
COLLECT – PRESERVE – EXPLORE – EXHIBIT – COMMUNICATE
Exhibitions should not only expand one's own knowledge, but also bring joy, wonder, or inspiration.
