INNSBRUCK INTERNATIONAL Performance / Bus Tour: LÉANN HERLIHY - Beyond Survival
With a pedagogical discourse that spans from eighteenth-century Irish hedge schools to twenty-first-century school tours, Léann Herlihy (*1994 in Waterford, lives and works in Dublin) invites participants on a school bus tour through the Alpine countryside. Departing from the urban sphere and commencing its voyage deep into the mountains, this journey explores the polemic effects of ‘self-perseverance’ through the social practice of survivalism. Utilising the scripted nature of reality survival shows, Ranger Herlihy provides a participatory script to each scout and invites them to take up a single role throughout the journey.
Léann Herlihy’s previous exhibitions include the 3rd Toronto Biennial; the 40th EVA International Biennial, Limerick; and Tulca Festival of Visual Arts, Galway.
