10 years of Avalanche Update! The successful format of the Alpine Club will take place this winter as an individual event (and without livestream) - where it all began, in Hall in Tirol.
Content & Methodology: Avalanche report, wind & avalanches, the old snow problem, ski touring guru, stop or go?, distances, group dynamics, orientation (app alpenvereinaktiv.com), emergency avalanche, the new survival curve, avalanche transceivers (news), and more. Avalanche accidents from last winter form the basis of our knowledge transfer.
Intent: Winter mountain sports - ski touring, freeriding, snowshoeing - captivate more people every year. The natural environment "mountain" fascinates, and the cultural technique "sport" offers diverse opportunities to connect with this nature. For us humans, natural spaces are always also danger zones - at the same time, a space that is becoming increasingly unfamiliar to us. No alpine hazard highlights this threat better than the "avalanche." 20 people die in avalanches each year in Austria. We can significantly reduce this number! If we succeed in establishing hazard awareness and safety-relevant know-how in our community. "Avalanche Update" aims to be a building block in this project and inspire people to take advantage of the practical training offerings of the alpine clubs and alpine schools.
