Osterfestival: Between the River and the Sea
The complexity with which I have lived my entire life has made me feel alone in my position. If I am already alone with it, why not also alone in front of an audience?
Yousef Sweid, born in Haifa, is a Palestinian-Israeli actor – a person who grew up between two worlds and has always engaged with their complexity. In his piece, Sweid explores his life between different cultures, narratives, and realities – different versions of the truth. He weaves personal anecdotes with political reflection – from humorous stories about life in Berlin to flashbacks of his childhood as an Arab child from a Christian family in a Jewish kindergarten. He seeks to understand how he finds his way in a world where he always feels "in between." Between the River and the Sea is a soulful plea for telling unheard stories and for listening. An invitation to embrace the complex and to see the story of a life that cannot simply choose one side.
