Osterfestival: Come Back Again
Come Back Again is a performance about the courage to rediscover one’s own body and to take unfamiliar paths in old age. Doris Uhlich continues her collaboration with Susanne Kirnbauer, former principal soloist of the Vienna State Opera, after Spitze (2008) and Come Back (2012). In her mid-40s, Kirnbauer had to end her career as an active ballet dancer. An aging body has no place on the ballet stage—especially not a woman’s body. The over 80-year-old explores with Doris Uhlich how her energy and strength can be transformed beyond the ballet steps that are no longer feasible for her, in dance, performance, and voice. In a state of change and reorganization, two dancers from different generations come together. In doing so, the past is questioned, the present is illuminated, and futuristic archaeology is practiced.
