Osterfestival: Lamentatio
The Austrian vocal ensemble Cantando Admont is dedicated to two works that respond to the existential experience of grief and hope over the centuries. Johannes Ockeghem's Requiem composed around 1460 is considered the first complete requiem mass in music history, unfolding a timeless sound language. Ernst Krenek composed his Lamentatio Jeremiae Prophetae in 1941/42 in exile in the USA. It reflects in moving vocal polyphony the personal and historical fractures of the 20th century: a musical lament about loss, exile, and longing.
