Osterfestival: Oma Sonjas Sonnenblume

Event information

Event period

Description

For the first time, the Ensemble WirkWerk is developing a musical performance for children in cooperation and co-production with the Osterfestival Tirol: Grandma Sonja's Sunflower. Grandma's kitchen is a place of closeness. Familiar smells mix with a cozy feeling of security. A musical narrative unfolds without words about love, familiarity, death, and farewells.

At the center of the story is a sunflower in the garden. It is very special, as it begins to bloom just as Grandma Sonja is no longer there. It symbolizes her warmth, joy of life, her contagious laughter, her tenderness and love, and what continues to resonate after her departure. Grandma Sonja's Sunflower invites children and adults to follow the course of life with music from Clara Schumann, Amy Beach, Rebecca Clarke, Grażyna Bacewicz, and Missy Mazzoli. The ensemble explores emotions that are sometimes delicate, familiar, melancholic, and then hopeful.

Duration: approx. 45 minutes
