As part of Grünmandl's room theater in image and sound As part of "Otto Grünmandl's room theater," with which we are setting a small film focus this year while also illuminating the cultural awakening mood of the 1980s and early 1990s, we will show the cult film "Malaria" from 1982 at the cinema dinner in September. The directorial debut of the outstanding Austrian filmmaker Niki List is considered a milestone of Austrian New Wave cinema and simultaneously marks the first leading role of Andreas Vitásek in a feature film. The cabaret artist and actor, who celebrated his 70th birthday this year, appears as the leader of a group of young poppers.

No-Future meets New Wave: In Café Malaria, various youth groups such as leftist activists, poppers, New Wave punks, drug dealers, confused outsiders, machos, etc. come together and interact. They discuss without saying much, remain silent, fall in love by the minute, drink, and laugh. The culinary foundation is provided by the team from the Kleinvolderberg refugee center.
