Description:
Advent and Christmas are still deeply experienced in alpine folk music today. When two renowned Tyrolean ensembles devote themselves to the music for the most silent time of the year with genuine passion and are thematically and dramaturgically interlinked by a connoisseur, this guarantees an authentic preparation for the most joyful festival of the year.
ORF presenter and folk music expert Peter Kostner guides the concert-goers on a journey through Advent towards the Christian high festival. He is supported by the pastoral sound of the Wiltener Holzbläser, the heartfelt play of Yvonne Kathrein on the Tyrolean folk harp, and the purest expression of Advent's tranquility and Christmas joy: the pure choral music of the vocal ensemble NovoCanto.
Let yourself be prepared for a joyful Christmas by an outstanding concert evening.

About the performers:
The Wiltener Holzbläser are primarily a chamber music ensemble consisting of music educators, which has emerged from the renowned city music band Innsbruck-Wilten. The six-member group prefers to perform during the Christmas season, is documented on several recordings, and has repeatedly made live appearances for radio and television.

The Tyrolean Vocal ensemble NovoCanto has gained an excellent reputation as a stylistically secure interpreter, especially of Baroque music, during its 25 years of activity. The chamber choir performs at numerous festivals, regularly collaborates with international (Baroque) orchestras and early music specialists, has released numerous recordings, and is also consistently present in the media. The singers have also preserved their love for their musical roots, authentic folk music. NovoCanto has been led by educator and musician Wolfgang Kostner from the beginning.

Yvonne Kathrein has been playing the Tyrolean folk harp since early childhood and passionately performs in various folk music ensembles. As a doctorate linguist, she is employed full-time at the University of Innsbruck, focusing on dialect research.

Peter Kostner is a professor of music education at the University of Teacher Education Tyrol and a program designer for ORF Tirol. His extensive activities as a musician, moderator, choir and brass band leader mark him as an expert in the fields of folk and brass music.
