Description

Since 1894, the stone Bettelwurfhütte refuge has been located at 2,077 metres above sea level above the tree line in the picturesque Karwendel Nature Park and can be reached both from the Region Seefeld and from the Halltal valley. The fabulous panoramic view from the sun terrace of the small mountain hut is absolutely unique. The hut is one of the stage destinations of the Karwendel Höhenweg (high-altitude trail) and the starting point for panoramic alpine climbing tours, such as the ascent of the Großer Bettelwurf (partly unsecured climbing, absolute freedom from giddiness, sure-footedness and via ferrata experience required).
If you prefer a more leisurely pace, stay at the hut and let your hosts Katrin and Michael spoil you with delicious Tyrolean specialities.

OVERNIGHT STAY
Divided into several four-bed rooms and two large mattress dormitories, each with 14 beds, the hut offers overnight accommodation for a total of 60 people during the summer months - please book in good time.

STARTING POINT
In the summer months, you can reach the hut either from Scharnitz via theHallerangerhaus or via Halltal near Innsbruck. The direct alternative is a steep mountain trail (black category) leading directly from Halltal to the Bettelwurf Hut on the south side and therefore exposed to the sun. From Scharnitz, a combination tour offers itself. First cycle to the Kastenalm and continue on foot to theHallerangerhaus. Continue to the right on a partly steep trail to the Lafatscher Joch and from the Joch to the left, again on a narrow trail to the Bettelwurfhütte. Surefootedness and a head for heights are required.

SUMMER TOURS

  • Via ferrata lovers can climb directly from the Halltal to the hut via the so-called Absamer Klettersteig. The difficulty of the via ferrata is mostly B, but it also has some more strenuous C passages.

  • Stage 4 Karwendel Höhenweg from west to east.
From the Pfeishütte in an easterly direction on a gentle incline to the Stempeljoch. From the Stempeljoch steeply downhill on a narrow path through a gravel journey. There can be fields of old snow here until late in the summer!
The trail branches off to the left into the Wilde-Bande-Steig and leads to the Lafatscher Joch. Continue eastwards on a narrow path to the Bettelwurf Hut. A head for heights and surefootedness are necessary.
