Charming excursion destination with overnight accommodation in the heart of the Karwendel Nature Park.

Above the Ahornboden, deep in the heart of the Karwendel Nature Park, lies the hut Binsalm. Around the active alpine pasture (over 200 hectares of pastureland with dairy cows and young livestock), an unparalleled panorama of peaks stretches over ancient forests that show off a magnificent play of colours in autumn. In summer, the refuge also offers overnight accommodation at 1,500 metres above sea level - an ideal starting point for family hikes and extended (e-)bike and mountain tours. Hungry hikers can expect homemade specialities from Tyrolean cuisine, children are in good hands in the petting zoo and on the playground, and there are even deckchairs on the sun terrace for a digestive nap. Meanwhile, e-bikes can also be charged at the Binsalm with their own charger. From mid-May to the end of October, the Almwirtschaft is also available for private parties; the Larcher host family asks for reservations in good time.

OVERNIGHT STAY
In the warm summer months between May and October, up to 80 people can stay overnight at the Binsalm. Instead of hut sleeping bags, the comfortable two- to five-bed rooms and three traditional mattress dormitories even have real bed linen and modern WCs and washrooms in the corridor. Spontaneous necessities are available in the small equipment shop. Timely reservations are requested in any case.

STARTING POINT
The starting point to the Binsalm is easily reached by public bus from the final stop at the Eng car park in Hinterriß along picturesque mountain roads. The hikers' car park in Eng, which is subject to a charge, also offers sufficient parking spaces for motorists, and luggage transport from the car park to the hut is also available on request. The alpine pasture can be reached in about forty minutes on foot via a wide footpath.


SUMMER TOURS

• From the Eng to the Binsalm. From the hikers' car park at the Alpengasthof, the route to the Binsalm is well signposted on comfortable forest roads. On the way, the themed hiking trail explains interesting facts about the Karwendel nature reserve and offers deep views of the mountains on extensive panoramic passages. If you bring binoculars and hike carefully, you can study chamois, marmots and the diverse species richness of the Alps along the way.
  
  
• Lamsenjochhütte via Binsalm. From the parking area Alpengasthof Eng P10, first to the Engalm and from there on a forest road to the Binsalm or via a small trail that starts directly behind the Alpengasthof Eng and later meets the forest road to the Binsalm again. Continue from the Binsalm (1502 m) on a narrow path to the western Lamsenjoch (1940 m) and finally to the Lamsenjochhütte at 1953 m. The Lamsenjochhütte is located in the middle of the valley. The Lamsenjochhütte is open from mid-June to mid-October and also offers overnight accommodation.
  
  
• Sonnjoch. The Sonnjoch at 2457m is one of the most popular classics in the Karwendel. The demanding tour is relatively long, but you are rewarded with a long ridge to the summit and a magnificent view. First, continue upwards on the forest road until you reach the Binssattel junction. Here, follow the increasingly narrow, partly steep trail to the left to the Sonnjoch. Surefootedness and a head for heights are required.
  
  
• Adlerweg. On stages 9 and 10 of the famous Tyrolean Eagle Trail, you can also stop off at the Binsalm or spend the night on the way through the expansive Karwendel. Alternatively, you can tackle the sections of the Adlerweg from the Binsalm and use the alpine farm as a base camp for several days.
  To the hike
