Starting point:
At the parking lot near the castle courtyard.
Directions:
From the parking lot, briefly follow the access road to Thaurer Alm. At the first junction, turn right onto a clearly visible forest path (Haselbergsteig) uphill, crossing a forest road twice, and finally following the access road to Thaurer Alm. It is also possible to stay directly on the access road to Thauer Alm, which will extend the walking time by about 45 minutes! The return route is also via the ascent route.
Arrival/Access:
On the Inn Valley Autobahn A-12, take the exit Hall Mitte, go through Hall to Absam and over the village road to Thaur. At Thaurerhof (priority sign), turn right uphill, pass the Gasthof Restaurant Stangl on the left (Langgasse), and then continue upwards on a forest road (gravel road) until you reach a no-entry sign. There are sufficient parking spots here (just before the castle courtyard), about 2.5 kilometers from Thaur.
