Snowshoe hike Padauner Berg (2.230m)

Vals / Zillertaler Alpen
Difficulty ratings: medium
Route length: 2.8 km
Duration: 5:00 h

Beautiful hike to the quiet neighbour of the Vennspitze. On the ascent, the much frequented ski tour to the Vennspitze is tangential, so it is advisable to walk a little off the ski route. Then nothing stands in the way of a successful tour. From the Padaunerberg you have a wonderful view over the Zillertal and Stubai mountains.

Description

Go up over the open meadow slope, cross a narrow bridge over a small stream and over a second meadow. Then you cross a forest path twice and follow the summer path uphill a little steeper. After the steep section, you move into flatter terrain and keep to the left edge of the forest. There you have to overcome another short steep section, after which you reach flatter, open terrain that is criss-crossed by a ditch. Parallel to the ditch, walk uphill to the right of it until it becomes flatter. Continue south over a ridge and up steeply to the right until you reach a saddle. From there it goes almost flat to the right to the highest point on the Padauner Berg.
