Snowshoe hike in the mountain village with a magnificent view from the summit at 2,066m.
From the car park next to the road, head south along the road to the Larcherhof farm. From there, follow the marked summer trail no. 82 to the Padauner Kogel. The trail begins across a meadow and between two fences, then leads through a section of forest and quite steeply uphill to a material cableway. There the forest thins out and you head north over the broad mountain ridge (Padauner Mähder) on and on to the summit with cross.
The descent is also via marked trail no. 82, which continues northwards. First descend along the Ritten ridge over fairly steep terrain and head a little eastwards until you come to a tree with the sign "Padaun/Gasthaus Steckholzer". Follow this further and further to the east, over serpentines, past a water trough. You come to a crossroads and decide to take trail no. 82A ("Gasthaus Steckholzer"), which then leads up a fence staircase onto a wide footpath and through woods, meadows and a short counter-ascent up to Gasthaus Steckholzer.
