This is a cleared winter hiking trail. However, icy or slippery spots may still occur.
The third day’s stage starts at the Mösern Information Office and follows panoramic trails No. 2 and No. 27 to the scenic Ropferstub’m. From the information office, the route first leads slightly downhill before turning right off the main road. Pass the Hotel Habhof, follow the road uphill to the Peace Bell, and continue past it (be sure to take a moment here to enjoy the view!).
At the next junction, keep right and follow the signs to Lottenseehütte – for a short stretch you’ll be on a paved road. At the next intersection, turn left toward Buchen (trail No. 27) and follow the signs to Ropferstub’m. (Those who wish can first make a short detour to Lottenseehütte by turning right at the junction.)
At Ropferstub’m, a stop at the inn and the adjacent mountain farming museum is highly recommended – you’ll find plenty of fascinating insights into life in the Alps. From here, trail No. 24 continues through the Katzenloch, an old “forced pass” once used by lynx, wildcats, wolves, and bears migrating through the snow-covered landscape from the Inn Valley across the Alps.
To reach the Katzenloch, first follow the paved path downhill to the main road. Just after a sharp right-hand bend, turn left into the forest and enter the Katzenloch. After about 40 minutes of pure nature, you’ll emerge in the Moos district. From here, follow the paved road about 1.5 km toward Obern until you reach the Obern Chapel. At the fork, keep left and continue to the bridge. After crossing it, take a short zigzag – first left, then immediately right after the Fiakerstüberl. At the next fork, keep right again and turn right onto the Unterer Wiesenweg. Follow this path to the Jausenalm am Lärchenhang.
After the stop for refreshments, the route first leads back for about 100 m, then continues uphill to the right. Here, you reach the Oberer Wiesenweg, which is one of the scenic highlights of this stage. The forest path ends a few meters after Gasthof Birkegg and continues toward Kühtaierhof. Pass the kindergarten, go straight across the junction to the main road, cross it, and take the hiking trail diagonally opposite. After the narrow footbridge, cross the cross-country ski trail and follow the forest path uphill toward Lake Weidachsee. After the climb, keep left.
At the Weidachsee car park, keep right toward Hotel Quellenhof, then continue along the sidewalk to the right until you reach Hotel Leutascherhof. Turn right into the small road that curves gently left to the Leutasch Music Pavilion. From here, you can take a peaceful loop around the nearby relaxation area or head directly back to your accommodation.
If your booked accommodation is the Hotel Kristall: keep right at the Hotel Quellenhof, follow the road for 150 metres, then turn right at the next junction (opposite the Haus Bergkristall).
