A fantastic high-altitude hike through the snow-covered mountains of the Reschen region. From the Bergkastel mountain station, the trail leads across the sunny Plamort plateau to the source of the Adige River – the origin of one of Europe's most important rivers.
This impressive winter hike starts at the Bergkastel mountain station and takes you into the tranquil beauty of the winter high mountain landscape. The trail first leads leisurely to the Stieralm, where you can enjoy the clear mountain air and the impressive mountain panorama during your first break.
The route continues to the expansive Plamort plateau, one of the most beautiful sections of this tour. On a clear day, the sun-kissed plateau offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding three-thousand-metre peaks. In the soft winter light, the landscape here reveals its particularly charming side – a perfect place for a long break.
An absolute highlight awaits you at the source of the Adige River: here, at an altitude of around 1,550 metres, the Adige rises and begins its long journey to the Adriatic Sea. Even in winter, this special place of power is impressive and invites you to linger.
