Description

KiS – Contemporary Art in Seefeld

Exhibition THOMAS SCHÜTTE at KIS

The pleasure of experimentation, working with wood, clay, or modeling material, constructing, drawing, and painting – all of this is present in the works of the German artist Thomas Schütte. He designs life-sized bronze figures, shapes abstract ceramic vessels, and creates watercolors of people, animals, and flowers. KiS – Art in Seefeld focuses on the architectural structures in Thomas Schütte’s work in its summer exhibition 2026. Color-intensive, clearly constructed woodcuts and house models like the “Holiday Homes for Terrorists” are at the center of the exhibition. One of these small architectures, created as a reflection on 9/11, the “Holiday House T.,” was built by gallery owner Rafael Jablonka in 2012 in the Möserer Forest at a scale of 1:1: as a “walk-in sculpture,” which can also be visited during guided tours as part of the exhibition.

Free admission.

Twice a year, changing exhibitions featuring contemporary art at an international level. This has been possible since mid-2021, thanks to the gallery owner Rafael Jablonka, who lives in Seefeld. Additionally, the association KiS, founded in 2022 to promote contemporary art in Seefeld, provides an interesting cultural program throughout the year. With concerts, readings, artist talks, and special projects for children and teenagers. Elisabeth Gürtler from the Alpin Resort Sacher is the chairperson of the association, supported in the board by Innsbruck gallery owner Clemens Rhomberg and entrepreneur Christian Jäger from Seefeld. Everyone can become a member.

The KIS exhibition is designed to be barrier-friendly. There is sufficient space between the paintings and artworks for comfortable movement with a wheelchair or walking aid. A barrier-free restroom is located nearby in the opposite parking lot (P8).
