Held every four years, Weer will be the venue of the traditional Carnival Parade in 2019 again – featuring “Muller”, witches and fleets of elaborately designed floats.
The Carnival Parade at Weer is deeply rooted in tradition. Highlight is the grand parade, which takes place every four years. A huge crowd rallies to these events, often in freezing temperatures, and thousands of locals and guests sing and dance on the streets, awaiting the appearance of the first carnival floats with their dazzling lights, bright colors and electrifying energy. The most characteristic mask characters are the so-called “Schellenschläger”, witches and Muller”, dressed up in brilliant colours to better attract the attention of the passers-by.
The tradition-conscious community of Weer organises this large procession. The parade begins at 1:00pm and follows the main road to the village square, where a heated marquee awaits carnivalgoers.
