Metzgerhaus Museum
The Metzgerhaus is a farmhouse from the early 17th century: the ground floor is original, while the first floor burned down in the village fire of 1809, but was rebuilt in the same year (year indicated in the roof ridge).
From 1678 to 1825, the "butcher's rights" were associated with the house, hence the farm name "Metzgerhaus".
The museum is a Unterinntal single farm with a gable-side accessed central hallway house with original functions for living in the front section, the stable, and the rem in the adjoining rear part.
The kitchen is equipped with typical farmhouse furnishings from the early 20th century, and the Unterinntal farmhouse parlor features a continuous wooden bench, chicken steps, a tiled stove, and wall boxes. A special feature is the built-in window lintels.
For the exhibition, part of the former stable, now called the "cow stable," has been adapted on the ground floor. Here, various work and holiday costumes are displayed in two showcases.
Focus points: Rupert-Wintersteller-Room (freedom fighter from Kirchdorf), collection of votive tablets, Balthasar-Waltl exhibition (academic painter from Kirchdorf), Austrian uniforms, geology of Kirchdorf, excavation items from Burg Erpfenstein, hunting exhibition, agricultural tools, and beekeeping.
Guided tours available outside of opening hours for groups of 5 or more. Registration with cultural officer Maria Braito at Tel. +43 664 9744038
Entry: Euro 5.00
