IRMENGARD SCHÖPF, née Lengauer, was born in 1923 in Lauterach. She passed away in April 2022 in Zams. A decisive factor for her artistic work was her stay in Tanzania from 1953 to 1969. After returning from Africa – first to Serfaus, then to Zams – she entered a phase of experimentation. She works in series and often references current world events. She also engages with religious themes. Chance is a design principle, and she thus approaches the late Austrian Informel. The exhibition in Wider.Stand (former exhibition Schneiderkapelle) of the parish of St. Nikolaus in Hall in Tyrol provides insights into her graphic work.
