Sospesi tells the story of the contemporary Italian circus world with a comprehensive view for the first time – its poetics, its methods of work, and its protagonists. It is the story of a generation of performers who have forged their own path without role models and have revitalized the circus landscape in Italy from north to south. They conquer a new audience and inspire a young generation of artists growing up within a new network of schools, festivals, and spaces for this evolving art form. The ambiguous title of the film, "Sospesi" ("the suspended"), refers both to the powerful physical expression and the airy-playful form language and alternative lifestyle of its protagonists. The term "sospeso" encompasses multiple meanings at once: it can mean "hanging," "suspended," or "in suspense." Alongside numerous other artists, the floating artists from the PaniKo family also play a significant role in Sospesi.
