Forging Museum
Blacksmith Museum Fulpmes
Until the 16th century, iron ore was mined in Schlick, a small high valley. As a result, numerous forges were established, whose products were also known beyond the Stubai Valley.A special attraction is the blacksmith museum located in the Riedlhaus. The museum showcases the development of blacksmithing and several original tools from the 19th century. It also holds certificates and examples of blacksmith work. The museum's main attraction is the old Riedl forge, with a grinding "machine" from 1812 and a blacksmith hammer from 1836, which have largely remained in their original condition. Finally, the "Fulpmer Blacksmith" can also be seen, a wooden sculpture by Ludwig Penz (1876 - 1918), who was a pioneer of modern sculpture in Tyrol. The 4 hammers, with their impressive wooden shaft as a drive, can still be operated today using the hydropower of the Schlick creek.
