George Orwells "1984"
George Orwell's vision of a grim future that we would never want to experience has haunted us since its release in 1948. He depicts a bleak world where everything is controlled by a ruthless totalitarian regime that seeks to dominate not only the actions but also the thoughts of its citizens. Can the protagonist Winston Smith escape this madness? What about Julia, the woman who watches him repeatedly at work? Is she a spy for the Thought Police? And what about O’Brian, the influential party official who might be working for a secret rebellion? Nothing is as it seems in the terrifying world of "1984."
