Description

Exploration of History on the Copper Ore Trail

Dive into a long-lost world and experience the fascinating history of mining up close! Our guided hike takes you along the Copper Ore Trail up to the historic mountain lodge/miners' house – a place where the hard life of miners once thrived.
Along the way, you will discover traces of mining that date back to the Copper Age or Prehistory: old tailings, mysterious tunnel entrances, and the closed open-pit mine. At the Kramstollen, you will gain exciting insights into early ore extraction while standing by the remains of the Georgi substructure and imagining the immense work of the miners.
Another highlight: the archaeological finds near Kropfsberg Castle, which offer fascinating insights into the life and economy of past centuries. From there, the route continues to Brixlegg, where you can comfortably conclude the hike. For those who want to dive deeper into mining history, there is the option to visit the Tyrolean Mining and Smelting Museum – a perfect finale for those who want to experience history up close.
Come along and feel the spirit of bygone times – a hike full of discoveries and impressive nature awaits you!
