Description

The picturesque Hallerangeralm has been located at 1,771 metres in the middle of the Karwendel mountains for over a hundred years. Not far from the longest tributary of the Isar, the Lafatscherbach, grandfather Isidor Schallhart managed the traditional alp in true Tyrolean hospitality as early as 1920. Today, Evi and Horst follow in the footsteps of their ancestors and spoil hungry hikers and mountaineers in the historic Tyrolean Stub`n and on the spacious sun terrace with hearty delicacies and homemade delicacies. Especially recommended: game from the local hunting grounds.

The surrounding alpine landscapes invite you to go on extensive tours in the Karwendel Nature Park, and a popular climbing garden is also located not far from the alp. During the summer months, up to 68 people can also spend the night at the rustic hut. Near the Hallerangeralm there is also a pretty little mountain chapel - the restaurant and sun terrace are also available for weddings, celebrations and parties.

LOCATION & STARTING POINT
It is easy to get here by bus or train to Scharnitz railway station, and the starting point to the Alm is barely ten minutes' walk away. A paid car park is also available for car drivers at the Scharnitz Nature Park Information Centre. From the information centre in Scharnitz, head towards the Karwendel valleys on comfortable gravel roads. Follow the signs to the Kastenalm and from there continue steeply to the Hallerangeralm. If you want to avoid the long walk to the Kastenalm, you can either do this stage by (e)bike or take one of the Karwendel taxis to the Kastenalm.

OVERNIGHT STAY
During the summer months it is also possible to camp at the historic Hallerangeralm. Up to 68 people can stay overnight in rooms with a total of 28 beds and 40 traditional camp places. Due to the limited capacity, please book in advance.

SUMMER TOURS

• To the Hallerangeralm. Wonderful long-distance hike from the Scharnitz Nature Park Information Centre over the Gleirschhöhe and through the Hinterautal valley to the source of the Isar. From there continue to the Kastenalm and steeply over the Lafatscher Niederleger to the Hallerangeralm. Return along the same route. The hike can also be done as a bike tour, but it gets steep from the Kastenalm. You can safely leave your bike at the Kastenalm, because this is where the bike path ends. From here you will continue on foot to the Halleranger Alm for a varied bike & hike experience.

• Karwendel Höhenweg. Moderately difficult hike on the sixth section of the famous Karwendel High Trail from Hallerangerhaus to Scharnitz (or vice versa). Can also be done with an overnight stay at Hallerangerhaus as a multi-day Karwendel crossing.
