Description

Mill in Stillebach / St. Leonhard:
The “Glasermühle” in Zaunhof dates to the 18th century and has survived almost unscathed to this day. Its owner Adolf Brüggler had built a shed over it to protect it from the elements. According to the records, grain was grown in Pitztal until 1974, however, it was not a very profitable endeavour.
In addition to so called “Hofmühlen” [farm mills], there were also “Lohnmühlen” [wage mills] where large farms could grind their grain for a “flour tribute”.
This story and the story about flax cultivation in Pitztal is recorded in a simple display with pictures. Now the glass mill near Stillebach pond is back in working order: grain is ground weekly, and bread is also baked here. (Trude Melmer, phone: +43 (0)5413 87206)
