Characteristics:

A spectacular cross-country skiing loop through Region Seefeld that starts right at the summit of the Leutasch Katzenkopf. This round is something truly special! A highlight is the free ride up with the Katzenkopf lift from Leutasch for cross-country skiers (valid only when the trail is open & with cross-country ski equipment). The lift saves you the strenuous ascent, so you can enjoy pure skiing pleasure afterwards.

Detailed route description:

Start & finish: Katzenkopfhütte (1,360 m). Parking is available at P15 Musikpavillon Leutasch (approx. 5 minutes on foot to the Katzenkopf valley station). Arrival is also easily possible by public transport. The cable car takes you comfortably up to the summit and is free of charge with a valid trail pass & cross-country ski equipment.

At the top, it’s worth taking a moment to soak in the spectacular panorama from the Katzenkopf Hut (1,360 m) before joining the high-altitude trail (B15). After a short initial section on the ski slope, the trail continues for about 1.5 km through a peaceful forest before reaching an 800 m stretch shared with winter hikers, where you ski in opposite directions. Finally, the routes separate again, and the trail merges into the A3 Torfstich Trail.

Following the trail, you complete a beautiful, flat loop until you reach the Wildmoosalm. The route continues across the Wildmoos Plateau along trails B3 and C11 to the Lottensee Hut. After a steep climb, you turn onto the C6 and then onto the C10. With a few short uphill sections, the trail now descends swiftly into the Leutasch district of Moos. At the cross-country ski parking lot, you switch to the A5 and glide comfortably through the wide Leutasch Valley. From the A5, we then switch to the A6 Alpenbad trail. We can either stay on the track, following the Leutascher Ache all the way to the Ganghoferbogen near the football field, or switch once more from the A6 to the A2 Snowfarming trail. This one leads through another forest section before passing the Alpenbad Leutasch and going through an underpass to reach the Ganghoferbogen.

The final section follows the flat A7 trail to the Weidach Bridge (underpass). Alternatively, you can finish via the A10 Weidach Trail. Here, the cross-country loop ends, and a short walk (around 10 minutes) along the paved village road brings you back to the parking area at the music pavilion.

Note: In Weidach, short sections between the parking lot and the trail must be covered on foot (paved sidewalk alongside the main road).
