Spieljoch - Geolsalm - Gartalm circular walk (Trail No. 18)
Departing from the mountain station of the Spieljochbahn cable car, embark on a gentle hike along a wide trail through to the Spieljoch summit cross (1920 m). Continue along a short rocky passage to reach a beautiful hiking trail featuring occasional narrow sections: This brings you right past the Geolsalm (1733 m) without any incline before ascending to the Gartalm Hochleger at 1850 m. The final part of this journey heads along a forest road that leads to the hut.
Alternative for outward journey: Departing from the mountain station of the Spieljochbahn cable car, this route heads briefly downhill along a wide gravel trail. A large signpost pointing right indicates the turn-off towards a beautiful panoramic trail leading to the Geolsalm. Free from any significant inclines, this gentle trail heads through Alpine pastures and forest before bringing you to the snack station at 1733 m up. From the Geolsalm, you embark on a continuous ascent to the Gartalm at 1860 m. You can then hike to the Kellerjochhütte hut (+1 hour) and onward to the Kellerjochkapelle chapel. (+20 min.) The return journey can be completed along the same route or via Falschegg en route to the Onkeljoch saddle. Once there, simply head downhill past the Spieljoch summit cross and you will reach the mountain station of the gondola lift in a matter of minutes.
