Description

This route begins with an ascent to Spieljoch mountain on the gondola lift. Approx. 200 m below the mountain station, the hiking trail bears right in the direction of the Geolsalm – from there, it then heads down via the Gartalm Niederleger to the Schellenbergalm and the Schellenberg snack station (dining tip; 10 min. walk heading out of the valley). After crossing the Hochfügenerstraße road, the trail merges with a gravel track that leads downhill towards Finsinggrund. You can either undertake a continuous ascent on the forest road and along Finsingbach stream until you reach Hochfügen or (+30 min.) join the gravel road that heads uphill from the bridge and through the meadows in a series of hairpin bends on the way to the Huber-Winkelalm (refreshments available; keep to the left for access). Pass through the Keglalm pasture (no refreshment options) and keep hiking until you reach the well-shaded Quellenweg trail in the forest. From here, the route remains level as it brings you back to Hochfügen past streams, Kneipp facilities, and water playgrounds.
