Attractive landscape with changing views. Particularly beautiful at the time of the alpine rose blossom at the end of June.
Many paths lead to the Kellerjoch, the distinctive local mountain of Schwaz. One of the most beautiful is the "detour" from Loassattel via the idyllic Gartalm. You get to know the mountain from several sides, whereby after each direction new views impress. At the summit chapel - 1800 metres above the green plain of the Inn valley - the panorama is endless: Karwendel, Rofan, Hohe Tauern, Tuxer-, Zillertaler- and Stubaier Alps. No wonder that the Kellerjoch is one of the most popular hiking destinations in Tyrol.
From the Loassattel you hike on the leisurely ascending Druckbichlsteig across the sun flank of the cow knife into the basin of the Gartalm. From there it goes now more strongly ascending by flower-rich alpine pasture grounds (Almrosen!) up to Kellerjochhütte. From there it is not far to the small chapel at the highest point of the Kellerjoch (2344 m) - however, the narrow climb requires surefootedness and one should be free from vertigo. From the Kellerjochhütte (refreshment point and camp) you then descend in several serpentines to the junction at the Naunzstand. Here to the left, following the signpost Hochebenweg, steadily downhill back to the Loassattel, where the famous "Loas-Schnitzel" lures in the alpine guesthouse Loas.
Most of this hike could also be done with children if you have the appropriate alpine experience. Except for the section from the Kellerjochhütte to the Kellerjoch, where it is dangerous.
