Description

Day 1 - From Hinterriss to the Falkenhütte

The starting point is the "Gasthof zur Post" in Hinterriss. In the information center of the "Alpenpark Karwendel" you have the opportunity to find out more about the Karwendel in natural history films and exhibitions before your tour. You then hike along trail 231 into the outer Johannestal valley to the Kleiner Ahornboden. From here, follow the "Falkenhütte" signpost into the Ladizwald forest and to the beautifully situated Ladizalm; the route then winds its way up to the Spielissjoch and on to the Falkenhütte. Depending on your mood and fitness level, you can climb up to the "local mountain", the Mahnkopf, in the afternoon and enjoy a magnificent view of the Karwendel. Spend the evening and night in a rustic hut atmosphere in front of the large rocky backdrop at the Falkenhütte.

Day 2 - From the Falkenhütte to the Engalm or the Binsalm

After a hearty breakfast, we head back to the Spielissjoch and below the spectacular north face of the Laliderer to the Hohljoch. Those who are fit and sure-footed can now walk via the Lalidersalm and the Gumpenjöchl to the Gamsjoch and back to the Hohljoch, from where they descend to the Engalmen on a good hiking trail like the other hikers. Take your time and visit the alpine village of Eng. It is the largest alpine village in Europe and its quaintness cannot be beaten. Alternatively, you can hike further to the Binsalm and spend the night there.

From the Engalm you can reach the Binsalm via the panorama trail in approx. 1 hour, with a wonderful panoramic view of the large Ahornboden. You can also choose the forest path with a walking time of approx. 40 minutes (luggage transport possible). This shortens the stage on day 3.

Day 3 - From the Eng to the Lamsenjochhütte

After another hearty breakfast, you head to the Binsalm (on the forest road or hiking trail) and on to the western Lamsenjoch. From here you hike on almost level to the Lamsenjochhütte, which is already visible. If you still haven't had enough, take a "detour" via the Lamsenspitze, one of the most famous peaks in the Karwendel. You climb it via a varied - moderately difficult - via ferrata. Especially the passages through the "Lamsentunnel" and later through the "Turnerrinne" offer lofty views and spectacular photo opportunities. Please only tackle the via ferrata with alpine experience and appropriate equipment (helmet, via ferrata set), which you can also hire at the Lamsenhütte (please reserve!). This is followed by another night in a cozy hut atmosphere.

Day 4 - From the Lamsenjochhütte to Stans

You leave the hut in a south-easterly direction and follow a hiking trail or alternatively a rough gravel forest path down to the Stallenalm, where the valley of the same name begins. Every Tyrolean schoolchild knows the Stallental valley because the last bear in Tyrol was shot here in 1898. You walk out of the valley across meadows and through forest until you turn onto the footpath towards St. Georgenberg and Stans. St. Georgenberg is a baroque pilgrimage church that dates back to the first monastery founded in Tyrol around 950. After fires, the monastery was later rebuilt in Fiecht in the Inn Valley.
You can hike back to Stans via the Way of the Cross (over a small bridge) to Weng until you reach the turn-off to Stans. A descent via the Wolfsklamm gorge is NOT possible!
