Description

The East Tyrol Farm Trail leads through the mountain farming landscape of the Tyrolean Gail and Lesach valleys. "Close to life", it enables encounters with the people who work in and with this intact and varied landscape.

Once you have made the ascent from Sillian into the Tyrolean Gail and Lesach valleys, the Höfe Trail Osttirol leads in three stages over around 30 km through a particularly charming, largely man-made landscape. Across mown meadows, full of countless flowering plants and insects, through carefully tended larch meadows, the trail follows old paths from farm to farm without any difficulty. The short daily stages close to the valley, averaging just 10 km between the communities and stage towns of Kartitsch, Obertilliach, Untertilliach, Maria Luggau, St. Lorenzen and Liesing in Lesachtal, invite you to linger and enjoy.

A special opportunity to delve even deeper into the clever interaction between man and nature is offered by "farm experiences" at local farmers along the trail. At defined times, visitors are invited to take part in the intelligent and sustainable farming in harmony with nature that has been the basis of farming in the Tyrolean Gail and Lesachtal valleys for generations and to learn about ancient valley knowledge.

Farm experiences: Please contact the Obertilliach tourist information office or the official Höfe Trail booking center to find out when you can "stop by" and book your farm experience! The farm experiences are only possible by appointment and on the scheduled dates.
