The second stage not only climbs a little higher, but also offers real postcard views! The trail takes you through the idyllic Fludertal valley, past the inviting Wildmoosalm to Lake Möserer See and the Friedensglocke power spot with far-reaching views of the Inntal valley.
The second stage of the long-distance winter hiking trail stretches over 16.9 kilometers and leads uphill through varied terrain with an elevation gain of 402 meters. The tour is moderately difficult, requires a good basic level of fitness and sure-footedness and leads partly over cleared, but typically icy or slippery paths in winter - hiking poles and walking sticks are recommended here.Highlights of the stage include the Wildmoos and Lottensee, an almost unpredictable natural phenomenon, an empty ground or a calm mountain lake depending on the season. The trail continues to Lake Möserer See, which is surrounded by a special silence even in winter. Shortly before reaching your destination, you pass the Mösern peace bell, which stands for peace between the Alpine countries and offers a vantage point with sweeping views of the Inn Valley.Along the way, refreshment stops such as the Wildmoosalm or the Lottenseehütte invite you to take a well-earned break. The stage ends in Mösern, where there are refreshment stops and accommodation such as the Inntalerhof.
Wear multiple layers, warm gloves, hat, waterproof jacket and pants, as well as waterproof winter hiking boots.
For better support and comfort, poles and crampons (spikes) are helpful, especially in difficult conditions.
This is a cleared winter hiking trail. However, icy or slippery spots may still occur.
The second day’s section begins directly at the end point of the first stage. From the music pavilion in Leutasch, head back to the main road and follow the sidewalk on the right until the Kreith bus stop. From here, go slightly right a few meters further to the base station of the Katzenkopf lift. Pass the former restaurant Kreithalm on the left, then follow the edge of the forest on the right and continue through the woods along path no. 1 towards Fludertal. A little later, the path turns right onto path no. 3 into Fludertal.
Continue following the path until you reach an open clearing at the Wildmoosalm after about an hour. Just before the Alm, the path turns right into the forest and gently ascends. After some time, you’ll come to an intersection, where you keep to the right towards the Ferienheim Wildmoos (not serviced).
Pass the holiday home and continue straight towards Lottensee. After about 1.5 kilometers, turn left at the signpost and you'll reach the Lottenseehütte. After an optional stop, head back along the forest road to the left (passing the parking lot on the right). After some time, you'll return to the intersection near the Ferienheim Wildmoos. This time, turn right and head back towards the Wildmoosalm. Once again, turn right along path no. 2, and then at the intersection, take path no. 60 towards Mösern. Just after the bus stop, turn and follow the signs towards Mösern.
After nearly two kilometers, turn left at the crossroads and shortly after, turn right, where you’ll soon see Möserer See in its winter beauty. After an optional stop at Möserer Seestub’n, circle the lake on the right-hand side and continue straight at the southern end towards Mösern. Upon reaching the paved road, you’ll see the next highlight on the right: the Peace Bell of the Alpine Region, a must-see even in winter!
Afterwards, the route leads downhill along the Broch-Weg to the Möserer Dorfstraße. Turn left there and follow the road to the Information Office Mösern, marking the end of this stage and the way to your booked accommodation.
If your booked accommodation is the Hotel Inntalerhof: once you reach the Möserer Dorfstraße, turn right and follow the road for about 200 metres.
