Multifaceted, beautiful tour in the rear Schmirntal valley over mahder and alpine pastures in front of the magnificent backdrop of the Tuxer Hauptkamm with Olperer and hoher Riffler. In the upper part, fantastic skiing terrain that also allows for one or two downhill variants.
From Kasern, the last high-altitude hamlet in the Schmirntal valley, the trail first leads upwards along an old draw path to the beginning of a high valley. Shortly after crossing a stream, you reach a barn and past it a little later also a wide floor. Here the vastness and beauty of the hidden valley becomes visible for the first time. In front of the forbidding walls of the Hornspitzen, you finally reach a cirque on the left through the most beautiful skiing terrain. From here, you only have to climb a few metres to the saddle, which then leads to the summit without skis along the ridge. A far-reaching view over the rear Tux valley and its striking rock formations compensate for the effort of the ascent.
ROUTE DESCRIPTION
From the car park next to the last farms in the valley, first head towards Kluppental. Immediately after the last dwelling, turn right uphill at a signpost and follow the course of the summer trail. You then have to cross a long south-western side, taking care not to get too high - a good orientation aid here is the old cable car, on whose support the lower hollow path runs directly. Follow the path slightly downwards into the valley gorge and cross the stream at a suitable point. After crossing the stream, there is a steeper section on the right before you reach a rustic barn. Further on, through flatter terrain, you keep more to the right and arrive at a wide ground via a knoll and last trees. This is where the most beautiful part of the tour begins. Crossing the ground, you head for a ditch at the back on the left. Cross this and then ascend the following long steep step in wide hairpin bends. You should be careful to choose the right track here, on no account should you swing too far to the left. At 2200 metres above sea level, you finally reach a new bottom, and the goal of the tour, the pointed summit, becomes visible for the first time. You reach it by heading for the hermitage on the left, deposit your skis here and climb the steep south ridge on foot.
Descent
Basically the same as the ascent - but especially in the upper part there are some worthwhile variants in the extensive terrain.
TIP OF THE AUTHOR
The area around the Fischers Napf is also beautiful in summer, less frequented and therefore a worthwhile destination.
