A winter hike steeped in history and nature: from the Lärchenalm to the source of the Adige, you will experience tranquil forests, vast meadows and the source of one of Europe's most important rivers.
The hike starts conveniently at the Lärchenalm, which you can reach either on foot or by taking the Lärchenalmlift. From here, the trail leads across the gently rolling Martannes meadows towards Kompatasch (trail no. 32) and continues along the Austrian-Italian border (trail no. 31).
The route offers one thing above all else: tranquillity. You hike through romantic, snow-covered forests, which exude a particularly peaceful atmosphere in winter. At the border crossing, the tour finally turns towards Reschen, along trail no. 33, until you reach the source of the Adige. This is where the important river rises, which later flows through Italy and connects Europe with its water – an impressive natural spectacle and a piece of history in the middle of the Tyrolean mountains.
For a leisurely stop, try the Lärchenalm at the start of the tour or the various establishments in Reschen at the end. If you prefer a more comfortable return to Nauders, you can take the bus from Reschen and relax on the way back.
