See is the first small municipality visitors encounter as they travel along the Silvretta-Straße road leading into the narrow Paznauntal Valley. The 1,200 residents live in houses and farms clinging to the steep, wooded mountain slopes.

Paznaun is famous throughout Tirol for its relaxed atmosphere and excellent regional food, so it is no coincidence that it has been an officially recognised Region of Culinary Excellence for many years. While Ischgl at the end of the valley is a well-known party hotspot in winter, See im Paznaun is seen as the quieter alternative and yet lies just a few kilometres from the nearest ski slopes. Indeed, See has its own family-friendly ski area reaching up to 2,450 m altitude on the Medrigkopf mountain overlooking the village. The resort offers night skiing and is also home to the longest floodlit toboggan run in Tirol (6 km). During the summer months, walkers and hikers can marvel at the cascading waterfall of the Istalanzbach stream, walk through the enchanting Schaller Klamm gorge, or head up to one of the many high altitude chapels in the valley. Those who want to go even further up will find a selection of huts in the mountains serving food. The Medrigalm hut even has its own spa and Kneipp water therapy park – the perfect place to refresh weary muscles!
