Kufstein

Kufstein

Known as the “Pearl of Tyrol”, the small town of Kufstein has been celebrated in a song and is steeped in history and character. Encircled by mighty Kaiser Mountain Range, the historic town on the banks of the Inn River is a charming place full of cobbled streets, unusual shops and ancient sights. It offers excellent shopping and a wide range of restaurants, cafes and pubs all in walking distance within a compact town centre. Kufstein’s most famous sight, remarkable Kufstein Fortress, towers high above town and serves as extraordinary venue for a variety of cultural events. The Fortress can be accessed by a spectacular panorama gondola. Attractions include the interactive local heritage museum and the world’s largest outdoor organ, named the Heroes’ Organ. The sound created by this magnificent organ can be heard throughout the town. The organ is played daily at 12 noon to remind that peace is possible but must be actively pursued.
