The Hintertux Glacier ski resort offers great skiing and fantastic views. It is the only ski resort in Austria open 365 days a year.
Skiers and snowboarders who simply can't get enough should head for the Hintertux Glacier, home to the only ski resort in Austria open 365 days a year. Located at the end of the Zillertal Valley, close to the mighty Olperer mountain at 3,476m, it offers top powder skiing in winter and excellent conditions on the slopes well into spring. Indeed, even in summer it is a popular place to escape the heat in the valley below and cruise the slopes at a cool 3,250 metres above sea level.
During the winter months the resort has a large network of pistes catering for all abilities. One of the main attractions is the descent in front of the "Gefrorene Wand" ("Frozen Wall") all the way down to Hintertux, at 12 kilometres the longest run in the Zillertal Valley. Powder hounds will find plenty of good freeriding, while snowboarders, skiers and freestylers congregate in the Betterpark or at the new funslope near the Sommerbergalm cable car.
In winter the resort is part of the "Ski- und Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000", a large network of interconnected villages and resorts including Finkenberg and Mayrhofen. All of the slopes can be accessed using one lift pass. Skiers and boarders with strong legs can then take on the ultimate challenge: 15,000 vertical metres and 60km of skiing in one day.
