Tirolean rock oil - soothing and nurturing
Rock oil, which is used in the production of skin care products, has been extracted from Tirolean oil shale in this region since the start of the 20th century. Characteristic for these products is their very high content of organic sulphur compound and numerous active substances from prehistoric ocean flora and fauna. Visit the rock oil mine in Bächental Valley, or learn about the 100-year history of Tirolean rock oil burning at Vitalberg Visitor Centre in Pertisau.
