Nesselwängle

Assumption of the Virgin Mary Parish Church

Description

The Nesselwängle parish church can be visited at any time. Nesselwängle received its own pastor as early as 1506 when it was elevated to the status of a chaplaincy. Since 1891, Nesselwängle has been an independent parish. The first little church on the "Lähn" was destroyed by a snow avalanche in the early 18th century. The successor building, erected on the present site, was badly damaged by a major fire in 1882 (loss of interior furnishings, renewal of masonry and roof truss) and consecrated in 1885. The tower with the barred corners on the upper floor received an original roof finish at the end of the 19th century. The most recent church renovation was completed in 1992.
